Want to try....

What: Arm Triagle

Position: Mount

How: Scoot as high up on your opponent as you can. Position your right hand on the left side of your opponent's head (mirror). With your left hand, use an upward sweeping motion to move oppoent's right arm up towards his head. (Position check: your opponent's right arm and head should be in between your right arm and your head). Bring your body close to your oppoent by hooking your right hand behid and around the neck of your oppoent. Secure this hold by grabbing on to the right shoulder of your oppoent. Use your head to keep his right arm in place and out of your way. Shift your weight to the right -- this will rock your opponent up while exerting more pressure on his neck. Flex your right bicep. IF the hold is tight enough, you can choke your opponent out at this point. Otherwise, seal the deal by placing your right hand on your left bicep and reach for the back of your head with your left hand.

I haven't actually learnt this choke yet, you can bet next class I'll be all over it! We'll see what happens :)

D'arce Choke (Or the Brabo as they call it in Brazil, but as per Jason "Mayhem" Miller, WE'RE NOT BRAZILIAN)

Inspired by Antônio Rogério Nogueira (UFC 114), I thought I'd try out the D'arce Choke today.....

What: D'arce Choke

Position: Half-guard

How: (for simplicity sake, I'll choke with the right arm). Slip your right arm behind your opponent's left arm, through and under the nape of their armpit (mirror arms). To check if you are in the correct position your right arm will be able to grab onto the back of your opponent's neck. Bring your left arm above opponent's head and under your left armpit, pushing your opponent's head forward with your left tricep. Now with your right hand, grab onto your left bicep and squeeze your left forearm up, closing your opponent's esophagopharyngeal space --> TAP!

Click on this if you haven't a hot clue what I'm talking about

Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful. I moved from mount to side hoping to secure it, but my opponent squimed free *boooooooooo* however, I ended the day with an ankle lock and two guillotines + one failed triangle. (tips on which I still want to blog are defending the ankle lock, tips on a killer guillotine, and when a triangle doesn't triangle)
